What) This bridge rises just 16 feet above the waters of Lake Pontchartrain but the real fear factor is that it never seems to end (it is (at least it was when we drove across it (1)) the longest bridge over water in the world and it spans nearly 24 miles from New Orleans to Mandeville, Louisiana. Once you reach roughly the eight-mile mark, say goodbye to land visibility. (2)

    Why) When I was making up this Buckys list I stumbled across an internet travel guide called World's Scariest Bridges (3).  None of the U.S. Bridges are particularly scary but I thought it would be fun to drive over any we happened to be nearby.
