What) Santa Anita Park is a thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, California. It offers some of the prominent racing events in the United States during the winter and the spring. The track is home to numerous prestigious races including both the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap.  Santa Anita Park was opened on December 25, 1934 and is the oldest racetrack in Southern California. It was designed in the art deco style by architect Gordon B. Kaufman. (1)

Where) 285 W. Huntington Drive    Wed - Sun starting at 1:00 on Weekdays and 12:30 on Weekends

Why) This is one of the few Buckys on the list that Pam actually requested before we left Regina.  You see, Pam was once the owner of a race horse so she wanted to show me the ins and outs of live horse racing.  For some reason, I decided to pick the winning horses based on whether or not their names had any personal relevance to my life.  Take a look at the racing forms below and see how well you do.

Santa Anita Park.  I felt nervous about taking a camera into the racetrack so I took just this one picture from the parking lot.

The Racing Program that we got at the entrance.

On the fourth race, I went with Tactful (because I like to think that I can be).

On the fifth race, I went with Broken Silence (because I had just completed a week long vow of silence in January).

My picks came second on the first race and first in the second race.  (3) and (4)
If Pam's explanations about betting strategies had been a bit clearer then I would have had a great day.
