What) Celebrating six years as Moose Jaw’s “bookseller to the world”, Post Horizon Booksellers has become an important part of the literary landscape in this city. Owner and bibliophile Nelson Reid remembers the very first sale: a biography of John Wayne, sold to a collector. Since then, collectors have taken home many other treasures: one of three known copies of a Canadian cookbook from the late 1800s, the first printing of a journal of exploration by a contemporary of Lewis and Clark, the exhaustive catalogue of Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotives that went to Finland, and the early Oz editions that went home to . . . Kansas.

It’s all about pairing people with the books they need, “like the serendipitous find of books on the Soviet Era, made during a family reunion here in Moose Jaw, which helped a researcher complete her master’s thesis.” Not everything is from the past though. New books are included in the collections. “We have works by local authors and Saskatchewan writers, some in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Festival of Words held each summer in Moose Jaw. You might even bump into an author browsing the shelves.” So whether its poetry or a pocket novel, kid’s books or CanLit, for research or relaxation, collectible or contemporary, this is a bookstore that can keep you reading – at home and on the road.     Why) It seems like bookstores of all stripes are going out of business everywhere. That made me very pleased when I discovered this “new” used bookstore in Moose Jaw a couple of years ago. Now that I have decided to start collecting the compete works of Piers Anthony, I find myself making excuses to stop in at the few remaining bookstores I either come across or know about.

Here is the owner Nelson Reid. I am always pleasantly surprised that he looks like a former colleague of mine named Trevor Scott.

I found three of Pier's novels on this stop. For some reason I haven't started reading this one yet.

I haven't read this one either but I know that is because it is the 29th book in a series that I have only read the first book of.

I bought this book because it has a much nicer cover then the other copy that I already own.

Now that I am making Pam stop at so many bookstores she has discovered she has an interest in biographies. She liked this one.
