What) This 18 foot tall Indian head statue (his 16th of 73) was carved by Peter Wolf Toth in 1975 out of Burr Oak. This Whispering Giant sits high above the river valley and the highway Illinois Route 29. From Route 29, a switchback road leads up to the carving and the entrance to Hopewell.
Where) Hopewell Estates at the top of hill near 1 Hopewell Drive. The estates are 4 miles north of the City of Chillicothe and 5 miles south of the town of Sparland.
Why) I promised you five Toth statues on this
trip and you have only seen two. Well, we couldn't find Chief
Wasatch in Murray, Utah but the other
two are up next. 
We didn't think
we would be able to find the Giant either but when we
drove by this water tower we knew it had to be somewhere
in town.
Somewhere
turned out to be right at the entrance we initially drove
