What) Sobeys is the second largest food retailer in Canada, with over 1,300 supermarkets operating under a variety of banners. Headquartered in Stellarton, it operates stores in all ten provinces and accumulated sales of more than $14 billion in 2009.

In 1907, Sobeys was founded in Stellarton by John W. Sobey as a meat delivery business. In 1924 his son Frank H. Sobey convinced him to expand into a full grocery business. From that point until his death in 1985, Frank was the driving force behind the business. The chain eventually expanded throughout Atlantic Canada. During most of the second half of the 20th century it was the region's dominant grocer. In the 1980s, Sobeys expanded into southern Ontario, challenging Loblaws on its home turf, thereby igniting what came to be a nationwide battle for market supremacy. (1)

Where) We tried to find the headquarters (2) at 123 Foord Street but it wasn't there. The actual location might be at 115 King Street but we didn't know about it at the time. (3) The nearest Sobeys grocery store is at 38 George Street in New Glasgow.

Why) Sobeys has been a regular client of Pam's cleaning company for a long time so I thought we should stop into their company headquarters to look around and see if they are trying out any new concepts.

The most interesting view for me was this square stop light I saw on the street outside the store.

If you don't like this view of the store either then you might want to skip to the next section.

The last three pictures are of various floor surfaces that Pam thought were interesting.

I don't yet know much about floors so I don't even know if my pictures captured what was interesting for Pam.

I do know that I doubled this picture to try and make it a bit more interesting for me.
