What) Trinity is one of the few parishes in northern Vermont whose origins go back to the 18th century. The earliest known Episcopal services took place in Shelburne in 1790. The first services held in this building were in 1866. Designed by William Appleton Potter, a leading church architect in the east, the Gothic Revival chapel is built of red stone from a quarry on Shelburne Bay Road. (1)

Grace and peace to you. Welcome to the Trinity website and its windows into our parish life. We hope you’ll find what you seek and that after a virtual tour, you’ll join us for the real thing. We look forward to your presence among us as we worship and serve God and practice the art of Christian living in fullness of life with thanksgiving. (2)

    Where) 5171 Shelburne Road     1-802-985-2269

Why) We were driving through Shelburne when the unusual red stone of this church caught my eye.  We made the quick decision to stop and then I got to spend a pleasing 30 minutes walking around it and taking in the exterior.

This is the view that grabbed my eye from the drivers seat.

My favorite part of the building turned out to be this tower and arch at the other end.

I walked back and forth under the arch a few times and on one of my trips I noticed ...

... this nice sign.  It did not tempt me to break my policy of leaving the inside of the church to the believers. If it had then you ...

... would have seen a beautiful sight featuring stained glass windows designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. (3)

Instead of that, I have to leave you with my photo manipulated version of the exterior of the church.
