What) Langenburg is a small town of just over 1000 that is situated at the intersection of Highway 8 and the Yellowhead. It is home to the world's largest swing, named Goliath, and is the last incorporated Saskatchewan community before the Manitoba provincial border. (1)

Goliath stands 33 feet tall and is 22 feet wide at the base. It was built in 1990 by local area farmer Ken Mack who used over two tons of steel in it's construction. The swing pivots are 2 Chevy car differentials, the seats are from old horse drawn farm equipment and sand fills the counter weight arms at the top, making the movement of the swing easy to accomplish. Goliath can rise to 25 feet high. (2)

Where) It's on the north side of Highway 16 at the Langenburg Rest Area

Why) Even though this was the last scheduled Buckys on our trip it was the one I was looking forward to the most.

We found the swing without trouble but it never even occurred to me that ...

... it would be chained to the ground and rendered unswingable.

I gave it a try just in case the chains might break but that failed.  At least ...

... this nearby sign was worth looking at.
