What) This cheerful symbol of Gladstone is an example of how clever towns can stand out on the map for the dumbest reasons. We like to think of Happy Rock as our Canadian Ambassador of Smiles. Happy Rock was designed by local high school student Jerry Wickstead and manufactured by F.A.S.T. (The Fiberglass Animals, Shapes, and Trademarks Corporation located in Sparta, Wisconsin) at a cost of $34,000. The entire sculpture is 25 feet high and 17 feet wide and houses a visitor’s information centre as well as public washroom facilities. (1)

Where) On the Northeast side of Highway 16

Why) On the Florida trip there were 154 Buckys and 26 (16.8%) of those had to do with statues. I felt that ratio was a bit high so on this trip I tried to limit the statue stops to those with some inherent beauty. Of the 134 Buckys on this trip, 17 (12.6%) were statues. I think this reduction should count as a success but we all know that I am biased on this one. If you really have nothing to do then click on each of the links in this paragraph to review the statues from both trips and render your judgement.
