What) The high-banked concrete oval at Dover International Speedway is known as "The Monster Mile" - so it's perfectly reasonable that its management would build a giant monster as its mascot. Joe said that Miles was part of a $6 million project known as the "Monster Makeover," which makes Miles not only the world's largest monster (46 feet tall, weighs 20 tons and holds a full-size stock car in it's right hand) but also places it among the world's most expensive.  The Dover monster is watched by 24-hour security and protected behind a fence on the days when no one's around.     Where) 1131 North Dupont Highway behind the front stretch grandstand.  Tours are on most Tue at 10 am and Thurs at 2 pm.  Cost $7

Why) Given my thing for outdoor sculpture and my distrust of security, the only real question here is whether or not I would jump the fence in order to see Miles up close.

I started off by taking this picture from behind the fence.

Then I moved to a better location behind another fence and got this good shot.

Then I saw the security patrol so I decided not to ... (2)

... take either of these close up shots. (3)
