What) This multistory oceanfront place bills itself as the World's Largest Gift Shop. Great place to kill a few hours, view modern high kitsch and old forgotten items. In it's hey day, it was comprised of many annexes including the trippy basement "underground" which was full of Halloween masks, black light photos, smurf crap, magic tricks and strobe lights. Once owned by a Depression era chiseler who couldn't resist a bargain, it's still a mish mash of sparkly modern fantasy mermaids and plastic resin lighthouses with many musty Myrtle Beach souvenirs and just plain strange crap. There are three-story tall glistening glycerin strings in the front of the building and an observation tower. (1)

    Where) 916 North Ocean Boulevard   Summer 9:30 - 11:30   Winter: 9:00 - 5:30    1-843-448-6550

Why) I fully intended to shop at this place but we drove in late and I was hungry so we went to the next Buckys.  I suppose we could have gone the next morning but I forgot.

This sign is probably the best part of the place. (2)

Although, I like browsing stores like this on occasion, Pam ... (3)

... thinks of them under the heading of "junk stores".

Can you believe that I knew about this Ripleys but chose not to put it on the Buckys list? (5)

I decided to "mix it up" with the Ripley's Aquarium but we did not go there either.
