What) A 40 feet long statue of a panther is located at a campground right next to the Skunk Ape research center. (1)
Where) 40904 Tamiami Trail US Highway 41, 1/2 mile south of
the
intersection of 41 and 29.
Why) There is not much to do in the swamp at this time of year
other
than view statues. I am sure we could have been tempted
to take
one of the advertised “River of Grass” airboat
tours but they weren't
running. 
While
we were looking at the statue, we met a campground resident
who was
from our home province. He claimed that in the 8 years
he had
been coming down for the winter, we were the only
Saskatchewan people
he had seen drive up. He was nice enough to give us
