Why) Not surprisingly, I often prepare a Buckys restaurant guide when I am going to be in one city for a week.  Once you read my three favourite entries for Missoula you may see why I was looking forward to the Staggering Ox.

    What) Staggering Ox - 6/66 - Ratings 15 - Price for an entry: $6
Cuisines: Sandwich - #4 1220 Southwest Higgins Avenue or 123 East Main Street  1-406-542-2206
                Hours: Mon - Sat 10:30am - 8:00pm    Sun 11am - 7pm
Quote: "There are a lot of things I miss about Montana but the "broken heart" clubfoot sandwich is near the top of my list.
If you are travelling through you should stop in for one of the best sandwiches you will ever have."

What) HuHot Mongolian Grill - 17/66 - Ratings 2 - Price for an entry: $13 (all you can eat!)
                Cuisines: Asian, Mongolian - 3521 Brooks Street  1-406 829-8888
                Hours: Lunch 11am - 4pm   Dinner 4pm - close
Quote: "They have one of the funniest desserts I've ever found, it's a do it yourself smores platter that comes with
all the fixings and a brazier to roast the marshmallows over on a wooden chopstick!"

What) Dinosaur Cafe - 30/66 - Ratings 3 - Price for an entry: assumed reasonable
Cuisines: Cajun & Creole - 428 North Higgins Avenue  1-406-549-2940
                Hours: unknown
Quote: "Who would've thought? Authentic Cajun food in the back of the dirtiest bar in Missoula? Don't miss the shrimp po'boy."
"The must tries are the Beans & Rice, Gumbolaya, and my favorite, the Fried Oyster Po'boy."

Why) The first restaurant we tried from the list was the HuHot Mongolian Grill. Pam liked it so much that she wanted to go there every day.  After 3 consecutive days I had enough so I convinced her to try the Staggering Ox.  Unfortunately, we discovered that the Main Street location had gone out of business so we ended up back at the HuHot.  Why did we go back?  Well, Pam was playing great bridge and she was convinced that the food was helping her.  I decided that great bridge was better than a varied diet.  Do you think I could ever have convinced Pam to try the Dinosaur Cafe?

I got these images from the Hu Hot website (1).

Perhaps this is a picture of the broken heart club foot sandwich. (2)
