What) The Central Coast wine region has created its share of world-class vineyards and wines. With over 40 wineries stretching from the Santa Ynez Valley to Paso Robles, the Central Coast is growing more and more each year in vineyard acreage and production. Directly east of Santa Maria lies Foxen Canyon Road, a 21 mile scenic country byway travelling through vineyards and rolling hills. Recently receiving world-wide attention in the Academy Award winning film, Sideways; the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail is a perfect way to discover these local wineries.  (1)

Where) From Highway 101 turn right onto highway 154 and then left onto Foxen Canyon Road.

Why) Part of the point of our trip was just to see the variety of landscapes that California had to offer.  A Buckys like this makes that journey a bit more interesting.

The Foxen Canyon Winery was crowded even though it was a weekday afternoon.

A vinyard that we stopped at along the trail.

I admit it, I liked the movie and I made Pam watch it before we went on our trip. (2)
